Pastor’s Message –
“I came to bring fire to the earth, and
how I wish it were already kindled! I have a baptism with which to be baptized,
and what stress I am under until it is completed! Do you think that I have come
to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! From now on
five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three;
they will be divided: father against son and son against father, mother against
daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and daughter-in-law against mother-in –law” He, also, said to the crowds, “When
you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, “It’s going to rain”;
and so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, “There
will be scorching heat”; and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to
interpret the appearance of the earth and sky, but why do you not know how to
interpret the present time?”
In
this scripture reading we see how Jesus describes humans as being able to
interpret certain signs. What Jesus doesn’t understand is how we can be shown
so many signs by God through out the Bible, yet not know where our bad /
inappropriate actions are leading us. It’s like he wants to reach over and knock on
our foreheads and ask, “Is there anybody home?” I want to describe some signs we see everyday
along the highways and relate them to the Bible. Maybe we will understand what God is trying to
tell us.
Construction – God created the world and us. He created us in His image and he wants us to
know He is our creator.
Yield – We need to stop sinning and yield to His will.
Dead End – If we don’t stop sinning we will end up at the dead
end
Curves – If we choose the narrow road it will have curves in it. It will not be a simple life.
One Way - If we stay on the narrow chosen road, we will find
out that Jesus is the one way to reach the Father’s Kingdom.
Think
you can follow the signs? I hope so!
God Bless.

Sunday
School is available each Sunday
morning. The importance of Sunday School
is that, though you may think hearing the word will suffice for you, you really
need to be in attendance at Sunday School to gather all the information that
you can in an open discussion classroom. Jesus’ word cannot be totally understood just
by listening to a sermon. You have to interact
with it and with other Christians to learn what He was saying to us. This is a life long study and you should take
part. There is a class for every age so
please plan on joining us to learn more about our Lord, Jesus Christ. Sunday
School at Williams begins at 10:45 AM and at
Evening Bible Study. We started our Evening Bible study on August 13, at
7:00PM. All those who attended took part
in a lively discussion on the Creation Accounts in Genesis. This week we will continue to read and study
Genesis with a particular look at the historical view of the writers. If you would like to join us come on over, Monday
@ 7:00PM at
